Description
A lovely English 17th century stool from the period of Charles I, this is made of oak and exudes the character and charm of an antique which is around 400 years old.
– Square shaped stretchers and turned legs.
– Two plank top, with a tactile rustic surface.
– Shaped apron on all sides.
– These stools would have been the main form of seating in 16th and 17th century English homes, and came in a variety of sizes.
– Similar stools would be used in the 19th century to support the ends of a coffin to keep it above the floor.
In good sturdy condition showing wear consistent with age and use.
