West Country Comb Back Windsor Chair
£1,080
Description
This lovely yew West Country comb back Windsor chair has a crinoline stretcher and stands on turned legs. It has a delicate feel to the arms and back crest, with relatively narrow spindles. The beautiful colour and patina of this late 18th to early 19th century piece make it an attractive addition to any room, providing useful extra seating in a kitchen, by a living room fire or for a desk or table.
Dating to 1780 to 1820, this is made of yew and originates from the West Country of England.
In excellent condition for its age and use, this is a sturdy piece and the spindles are all well fixed. There is a historical chip in the wood on the right side of the back crest, which has been polished in, and there is an old characterful split in the back of the seat which is only visible from behind and which does not affect the stability of the chair or the spindles.
