Description
A pair of circa 1900s oak balloon back side or dining which are characterised by their distinctive balloon-shaped backs, which are simply carved around their borders. The chairs have turned legs and newly reupholstered seats, making them both stylish and comfortable.
Balloon back chairs were first introduced in the early 19th century and quickly became popular in Victorian homes. Typically made from oak or walnut, and they were often decorated with carvings and other embellishments. Balloon back chairs were used in both formal and informal settings, and they were a popular choice for dining rooms, living rooms, and bedrooms.
The chairs are in very good antique condition having been fully restored and reupholstered and have been very well cared for by their owner. The oak is rich and warm, and the simple carvings are sharp and defined. The chairs have been reupholstered in a light fabric with pipe detail. The underside is covered in a brown hessian.
