Description
This classic table lamp was produced by the German manufacture Gebrüder Cosack (Gecos) during the 1940s. Also known as a doctor’s lamp. The base is made of cast iron, and the lampshade and articulated ball arm are made of metal. The arm and large lampshade can be adjusted to obtain a wide angle of light incidence. The switch is located on the base. This lamp is the quintessence of the Bauhaus style. Timelessness that combines functionality with simplicity. It will fit successfully in many arrangements.
Gebrüder Cosack (Gecos) was founded in 1833 by three brothers Theodor, Egon and Friedrich Cosack as a metalworking company in Neheim-Hüsten, Germany. At the beginning, the company produced liturgical items as well as oil lamps. Later, the company started producing electric lamps. After World War II, it produced copper, designer lighting for restaurants. The most famous designers work with Gecos are Gottfried Stürzenhofecker, K. H. Kinsky, Hans Wilfried Hegger, Hans-Joachim Groth, Burkhard Panteleit, Joachim O. Becker, Prof. Friedrich Becker, Waldemar Rothe and Jan Armgardt. Gebrüder Cosack has received 15 iF Design Awards.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition. Has minor scratches. It was repainted some time ago. Requires a E27 bulb with a maximum power of 60W.
