Description
Rare pair of large Danish Michael Andersen table lamps in ve – 1960s most likely designed by Marianne Starck. In Persian glaze.
While Michael Andersen & Sons’ incredible and award-winning “Persia” enamel was developed in the 1930s by Daniel Andersen (1885-1959) and used on pieces from that date onwards, these are the designs of Marianne Starck at MAS & Sons in the 1950s and 1960s where the Persian glaze is seen at its best.
This intricate glaze reveals itself differently on each piece, depending on the glaze dyes used and the style of decoration. Sometimes it appears as a pearlescent multicolored micro-mosaic, and at other times as a more subtle pattern decoration with gray pearlescent hues. Often pieces using this glaze will show a nice but subtle oxidation of the glaze, giving some colors a slightly metallic appearance.
