Victorian flamed mahogany Scottish bedroom chest with secret drawer over two short and three long graduated drawers ā all furnished with wooden knob handles, and flanked by two cylindrical pillars.This is an absolute beauty of a chest ā having a lovely warm colour and beautiful patina. The drawer knobs have mother of pearl insets to the centre of each knob handle. It is a very solid and heavy chest of drawers that has stood the test of time. The secret drawer is opened by removing one of the short drawers and by pressing a leaver.There are a couple of chips to the veneer to the bottom aspects of each side and there is a crack to the left hand side which is consistent with expansion and contraction due to heat ā this is normal on chests of this age and it is completely stable.Despite its couple of tiny issues ā this is an absolutely gorgeous chest and will be here for generations to come.
