A very well preserved English Regency Chinese export games and side table with black lacquer and gold leaf chinoiserie, flip over centre to reveal backgammon and chess board, detachable top with ‘bird cage’ fitting This games table would have been made in England in around the 1830s and then shipped to China for the lacquer-work and gilding, this process taking around three years to make.
Chinoiserie had become very fashionable at the end of the Georgian period in England making this games table very desirable amongst the wealthy
The table is relatively untouched with small cracks and lacquer losses and repair to foot, it has the original key and very delicate gilded regency Handles
