Industrial Oak Top Table
£1,800
Description
A wonderful pair of late 19th century French armchairs, these have leather covered backs with a great patina and will originally have had matching hide seats which have been stripped back, along with the reverse side of the seat backs. The splendid walnut chair frames are ornately carved and the original upholstery pins make a handsome addition to these stately pieces. The seats are well sprung, wide and relatively low, making them a very comfortable place to sit and they will make a great addition to a library or work well as hall chairs.
These are offered in their current stripped back condition, but if required we have an upholsterer on site who can help with discussing coverings to your own specifications.
Dating to circa 1880, these are made of walnut and leather, and originate from France.
In good age related condition, these require reupholstery for the seats and the reverse of the backs. The remaining leather to the front of the backs has some marks and small nicks, but is not ripped and has not worn thin, so can be retained to complement any new coverings. A single larger upholstery pin is missing from the side edge of one of the backs. There are minor chips to the central decorative stretchers which are not obtrusive. The seats are well sprung.
