17th Century Oak Serving or Dining Table
Delivering from: Newark, United Kingdom (UK)
£4,250
Description
A fabulous 17th century sturdy oak serving table which will work as a dining table for 6, this is a true antique and has the wonderful character, colour and durability of a piece which has been in use for 400 years.
– Two plank top with corner mitred oak frame border.
– One long side of the apron is attractively carved with a rustic design of curls and points.
– Apron has shaped ends near the legs.
– Rectangular frame stretcher shape.
– Turned legs.
– Beautiful patina and depth of colour from centuries of use.
In good condition showing the wear which is consistent with 4 centuries of use. There are signs of old treated woodworm damage at the base of the legs which has led to the internal shape showing wear, but this is both characterful and to be expected for a piece of this age. There are some oak piece inserts in the plank top, but these have been smoothed and worn and fit well with the piece.
