Description
Superb console entirely covered in tobacco-colored parchment made and designed by Aldo Tura in Milan in the 1960s.
The object is in perfect condition as shown in photographs, with some tiny signs of aging given its 60 years of life, perfect lacquer, feet and brass profile in perfect condition.
Dimensions: 140 x 40 x 75 height.
Tura is part of the Italian talents of the Mid-Century. In the post-war years, while many producers are intent on adapting their production methods by targeting the mass, Tura remains dedicated to slow and traditional craftsmanship. It favors intricate and complex shapes and labor-intensive processes, which cannot be replicated in a large-scale factory system. As a result, Tura’s number of works available on the vintage market remains limited.
Today, the Tura company continues to produce luxury and DĆ©co-esco furniture in Lombardy, but much information on Tura itself has been lost. The Brooklyn Museum in New York has several Tura designs that were originally exhibited between 1950 and 1953 at the traveling exhibition Italy at Work: Her Renaissance in Design Today.
