Mid century Regency Style Sideboard by Strongbow

A beautiful mid-century regency sideboard made by British manufacturer Strongbow.

This elegant piece consists of a main central cupboard with a shelf inside, sandwiched between two banks of three drawers. It offers a beautiful curved design with lovely detailed bordering around the drawers and doors, with the wood grain going in different directions around the bordered pieces.

The whole sideboard has been deep cleaned with sugar water and sanded down to the bare wood, before being professionally prepared and hand-painted. All of the drawer fronts and the cupboard doors have been sanded back and then recoated with several coats of gloss varnish; really bringing out the beauty of the grains.

The rest of the unit has had two coats of primer and undercoat. The top has then had several coats of dusted heather coloured paint, this colour has then been carried on to paint the detailed lines around the drawers, a border on the sides and then banded decoratively around each of the six tapered legs. Bordering the top of the unit and drawers, the sides and the legs have been painted with a gorgeous cherry truffle brown colour, the reddish tint tieing in nicely with the light pinkish colour of the heather. All coats of paint have been sanded down between layers to add a smoother and more durable finish.
