Exquisitely inlaid French walnut and marquetry side chest.
-With a pierced brass gallery edge to the top and lower shelf.
-The surface depicts a sailing boat beneath a draping canopy, with a number of intriguing items on board. Some of these items include a book, a pair of elegant birds atop a torch and brush, and a shield with an impish head. Encircled by checkered box stringing.
-Three small drawers to the front decorated in further floral marquetry which is matched on all sides including the reverse side for a maximalist aesthetic.
-Each drawer also features decorative escutcheons and bordered by checkered box stringing.
-The legs are visually elongated into the main body by skilled parquetry mimicking reeded details.

-Complete with dainty decorative toe caps on cabriole legs.
Perfect size for a lounge, landing entryway or bedside with all the features which will enhance any space and add character.
In a good and sturdy condition with some signs of wear commensurate with age and use. The top surface has some losses in the box stringing. The reverse of the item has some natural splitting. But this does not overpower the beauty and grace of the fine French details.
