Early Heals Style Arts & Crafts Desk Bureau Bookcase
£900
Description
This lovely Arts & Crafts bureau in light oak makes a great multi-purpose and stylish piece for any modern home. The bureau front comes down to rest on pull out supports and has a green felt inlay to work on. This section will make a great space-saving desk for the home office, with plenty of room to work with a laptop, and to store paperwork or stationery in the cubby holes above. The narrow cupboards either side each have hand blown green glass windows. A gorgeous chequered inlay on the bureau front, with matching squares in the same design on each of the sides, attests to the quality of this piece. There is plenty of room for books or other display items in the top and side sections, and plenty of storage space in the graduated drawers below.
Dating to circa 1890, this is made of oak and originates from England.
In good age related condition, this has a small patinated burn mark on the top which looks like it may have been from a cigarette left on the edge to burn many years ago, adding some character to the piece. The shelf at the bottom right is removable, but that on the left has been fixed in place recently. The plinth base has a loose piece to the bottom right. The available key fits the bureau lock, but not the drawers, where the locks are all present.
