A fabulous ‘Acornman’ oak dresser from around 1960 which is from the workshop of Alan Grainger, one of the ‘Yorkshire Critters’ group inspired by Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson and producing oak furniture since the 1940s.
– Provenance, from a private estate in Yorkshire.
– Acorn mark carved into front right leg.
– Removable rack above, with plate grooves on both shelves and also the top.
– Three drawers, all with solid oak carcasses made with hand-cut lap and through dovetails.
– Double door central cupboard with further cupboards either side, each with a removable shelf on slide supports.
– Adzed surfaces throughout.
– Pegged joints.
– Decorative wrought iron hinges.
This will look wonderful in a country kitchen with a decorative plate display and is in lovely condition, ready for the finest interior. It is a statement piece from one of the great Yorkshire oak craftsman workshops, with the depth of colour of an aged piece from the mid 20th century.
