French Marble Top Buffet
£470
Description
A handsome French buffet, this has a marble top of variegated colour, including olive green, white, grey and black. It has a lovely carved design of grapes and vine leaves on the corners of the back and at the top of the legs, with a similar design decorating the ormolu style fittings. The amboyna panels on the cupboard door and to the sides of the bevelled mirror at the top, provide a lovely burl grain with a deep colour. There are drawers either side of the cupboard, which has a central shelf, and there are corner shelves at either end. This will be a great addition to a country home, either serving its traditional function as a buffet, or as a display space with additional storage which will work well in a large hallway, providing a mirror near the entrance.
Dating to circa 1900, this is made of mahogany, amboyna and marble, and originates from France.
In good age related condition, this has the wear expected for a piece which has been in use for over 100 years, but without obtrusive faults.
