Description
This small, thermal jug was designed by Sigvard Bernadotte for the Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna Borstfabrik during the 1960s. The thermos is made of white plastic. The handle, lid and bottom are black. The inlet is designed in such a way that you can directly attach a coffee or tea filter.
Sigvard Oscar Fredrik, Duke Bernadotte, Earl of Wisborg was born on June 7, 1907 and until 1934 he was known as Duke Sigvard of Sweden, Duke of Uppland and was a member of the Swedish royal family. When he married a woman of unequal status, he lost his princely titles. He was also a successful industrial designer. He designed everything from luxurious silver items for Georg Jensen to everyday plastic items. Among his iconic designs were the Red Clara opener, the EKA Swede 38 folding knife, the Margrethe bowl, the Bernadotte pitcher and the Facit Private typewriter.
Husqvarna Borstfabrik was popularly called Borsten. Initially, the assortment included only brushes used in the foundry industry. The emerging market for plastics prompted the company to expand its range. The following designers were invited to cooperate: Acton Bjƶrn and Sigvard Bernadotte, who designed new articles, and many of them gained cult status, incl. Table garden tableware and the entire Signature series.
This thermos is in original vintage condition. Fully functional, it keeps warm for many hours. It has normal signs of use, a small chip at the top.
