A fine heavy quality stamp box retailed by Thornhill & Co , Bond Street, London. The box has a crown and winged motif on the lid with the motto ‘Forward’ in banner form underneath. The fully gilded interior has five compartments traditionally used for keeping stamps. The piece is a very decorative item and still has contemporary use as a trinket box. Hallmarked for London 1889. Weight 232 grams
