A beautifully marbled 1950s Swedish handle-jug designed by Gunner Nylund for the Rรถrstrand Factory. The pottery, stoneware jug features a wonderful smooth glaze in marble effect tones of browns and golden-brown colours. Inscribed on the base: SWEDEN GN ARL (Model Number). I find the design absolutely stunning and the vase incredibly tactile. The jug is in excellent vintage condition.
Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was the artistic leader for the Rรถrstrand Factory during the 1940s and 1950s. He was also the artistic director for Nymรถlle Ceramic Factory for a short period as well.
