French Reverse Cut Decorative Glass Painted Panel
£565
Description
An attractive and unusual decorative glass panel, this has been engraved from the reverse and painted to depict a lady in medieval style clothing sitting in a stylised landscape with birds, animals and flowers. She is on a black background with a red dress and a tree to her left, with a wide gilt patterned border and a fleur-de-lis heraldry shield design in the top right corner. The animals shown include a fox, dog and rabbit. This heavy piece is in a wooden frame with a gilt edging. It will make a great statement piece for any room and will complement an ornate interior with sumptuous furnishings, but will also look lovely against a simple white wall.
Dating to the 1930s, this is made of glass and originates from France.
In good age related condition, the colours are bright and the glass is undamaged. The gilt edge surrounding the frame at the front is chipped throughout, but this is consistent in appearance and characterful.
