Cesare Bentivoglio Ligurian painter

A self-taught painter, Cesare Bentivoglio attended Antonio Varni and Giuseppe Sacheri at a very young age.
His favorite subjects were the marinas, the landscapes, the views of ports, the hunting scenes, the Dolomites. For unknown reasons he has always refused to participate in the Genoese Promoters and, in general, to exhibit at any art exhibition.
His works were appreciated by the Genoese bourgeoisie and beyond.

In fact, his paintings, purchased by foreign art dealers, reached France and England.
from a first painting still linked to Ligurian landscape painters, technically close to the experience of the “Grey School”, came to a much more lively use of colour, in the wake of Post-Impressionism.
