Description
This is a rare find – a vintage aboriginal dot painting by Bill Wallace signed and dated 98. Acrylics on canvas. Unmounted and unframed ready for you to mount and frame as you wish. Paintings by Bill Wallace are rare and I have been able to find out very little about him. However, written on the back of the canvas is the following: ‘Artist: Bill Wallace Area: North Western N.S.W KAMILAROI This painting is about a special place for Bill and one of his brothers. ( ) – men seated around camp fire’ (explaining some of the symbolism in the painting). There is also the original sale price from 1998 of $28. This painting depicts men sitting around a camp fire. The central roundel with flames is the fire and the two semi-circles are men seated around the fire. The speckled background is the sand. Beautiful colours of oranges, taupes, blacks and whites with lots of tiny speckles of colour in the sand – please look through all the photographs. The Kamilaroi People live in large areas of New South Wales and Queensland. Read more about their rich history and culture here: https://nativetribe.info/discover-the-rich-culture-and-history-of-kamilaroi-people/ Condition: Extremely good vintage condition with nothing to worry about – just ready for framing. Postage: I always pack everything extremely well to ensure safety in transit. Postage to the UK is free and includes proof of posting and a tracking number. I always send a photograph of the postage label to the customer on despatch. If you wish these posted overseas please contact me first for a price.
